Almost every episode of Mayor of Kingstown punches you in the gut with scenes of extreme violence (psychological and moral) where angels get “plucked to the last feather.” Then it hands you a glass of fresh, ice-cold lemonade through heart-shattering yet captivating moments, like a disillusioned social history teacher explaining to female inmates how the United States was built through systemic racism, genocide, and injustice. It’s a show in which Taylor Sheridan holds up a mirror for America to look into. Props to the casting as well: every actor delivers a convincing, immersive performance.
